The Roaring 20s

Hello blogging world, today's activity is all the first movies in New Zealand. In the movies, they would be silent and in black’ n white. You would have to know what was going on with the acting, so they would have to be good at acting. Today we have to pretend we are making a silent film, what would you need to think about when writing the script and filming it and tell if we would enjoy watching a silent movie. But I do have one question… Why couldn’t they record the voices but could record the movements, I feel like the audio would be easier to build?

In my script, I don't think it would be long as I would only need to write what happening, Problem, Solution, the scenes and when the character needs to act out something. When I would be filming it, it would be no point making all the props colourful as it would be in black and white. I feel I would also be yelling a lot because the people might do good acting but not good enough for the viewers to understand what is happening. I think I would not enjoy a silent movie as I would never understand what would be happening. Also, I just don't think they would be good quality

Thank you, everybody, for reading this blog post if you would like to see more of my work scroll down. Please feel free to comment anywhere on my blog. I will see you in my next blog post until then... BYE!

  1. Bula Lily,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about silent movies. I like that you have provided really good reasons as to why you would not enjoy watching them. Although silent movies were shown in New Zealand cinemas you might have to check whether these silent films are New Zealand films. Perhaps you could do a little research on Charlie Chaplin, the actor of these films, I’m sure it would help you a great deal.

You’ve made sure to mention why you wouldn’t enjoy silent movies, but you must remember to choose one of the movies and talk about what you think it was about. Please edit your post to include this, as I would love to give full points for this activity!
