Meat and 3 Veg/ Week 3

Hello, blogging world. How was everybody's New Years? My Family went to hurakunio. It was so fun! It was very common for the women in the family in 1950s to stay at home, to care and look after the kids. They were called “house wifes”. For the dinners, many of them stick to a rule called the “Meat and Three Veg (Vegetables)”. The rule was simple and easy you would need to make three vegetables and a piece of meat. They would do it every night at tea.

For this activity we need to describe if this was a good rule (The three veg and a piece of meat rule), Do I like the rule? And would you enjoy eating one of this’s meals?

I would enjoy this rule as it sounds like my normal dinner but I don't think I would want it repeatedly. This is a good rule because it is simple and the kids would love it. You could buy simple meat to do and you could do it over and over again. The kids won't even care because they just want food.

Thank you, everybody, for reading this blog post if you would like to see more of my work scroll down. Please feel free to comment anywhere on my blog. I will see you in my next blog post until then... BYE! P.s there is no photos as I did this offline

  1. Hi Lily,

Did you mean you would enjoy the 1950s dinners but not repeatedly? I agree that you could buy the same meat but have with a different combination of vegetables, though I’m sure that different seasoning would be appreciated. Next time, maybe you could include a few different pictures of meat and three veg dinners from the 1950s. I think a variety would show readers what people really ate for dinner back then, so they could decide whether or not they liked it.

I’m leaning towards liking the rule because I do enjoy eating a good piece of steak with a green salad, crisp cucumbers and kimchi. However, there are so many other meals I enjoy like Pork with Palusami (Samoan Taro leaf dish) and chicken dumplings with chilli sauce and pickled radish. Do you have a favourite dish that doesn’t fit the meat and three veg rule?

    Toe feiloa’i fo’i,

    Cia.

  2. Hi Lily,

I love the way you introduce each post “Hello blogging world!” Very cool, keep up the creative ideas!

I agree, it’s an alright rule but if you have it too much, you’ll get very bored by the same foods each night. My grandparents live by this rule, always one meat and three veges. But I can happily say my grandmother loves to make a special surprise for after dinner. She loves trying different baking recipes and desserts.

My favourite would be: chocolate self-saucing pudding. What’s yours?

I can’t wait to read more of your fantastic posts!

    Cadence :)
