Hello, blogging world. We made it through a day now it is time to do day 2. In the olden days, people of New Zealand didn't live in normal houses. They lived in a house called... wharepuni. Here is a short description of what a traditional one is. On a traditional, it has a thatched roof and walls made of timber, ferns, rushes, and bark. Each part of the house represent things like at the end of the roof they are the hands.
For this activity we had to describe the difference with our house we normally sleep, eat and play in and a photo of a wharepuni (Down Below) Here is my work.
Similar
1. It is a house and with both of this's you can live, sleep and eat in it
2.My house relates to this because I have a small porch at the front which has the front door on it.
Difference
1.The difference with them is that on this building it has lots of faces and a story behind everyone.
2. My house is also two story and it is a suburban house, it has a steep driveway and it doesn't have a lot of patterns (Tukutuku Panels and Kahawai Patterns)

ReplyDeleteWhat awesome detail you have included in your post about the wharepuni. I really like all your similarities and differences, especially where you have noticed the Tukutuku patterns. Where did you learn about the panels? There are so many designs of Tukutuku patterns do you have a favourite? I like the poutama pattern as it signifies the growth of a person. I like to think we are all striving to be better people and learn more every day.

DeleteThank you for your comment. I learnt about the Tukutuku Panels at schools which we used to make a border for our pepha. I don't really have a favorite because they are all amazing and tell a story.
